The flip flop hubs allow you to change from free-wheel to fixed and allow you to slow down and brake via the pedals. You still have complete control through the rear alloy linear side pull caliper brakes. The XDS Sprint Fixie is a bike with a difference, ride with a different style and a different feel thanks to the the fixed gear design.
