Fork-mount roof racks secure the bike by removing the front wheel and clamping the fork directly to the rack, which provides a very stable and low-profile carry position. Frame-mount racks hold the bike by clamping onto the frame, meaning the wheels stay on, which is more convenient but can add height to your load. Fork-mount options are generally preferred for performance bikes where frame protection and stability are a priority.

Roof racks keep your bikes completely clear of the rear of the vehicle, giving you full access to your boot for luggage, which is especially useful on longer trips. They also tend to have less impact on rear visibility compared to boot-mounted rack which extends behind your vehicle and can also sometimes block the visibility of reversing camera.
