The Merida Scultura 400 Women's Road Bike is an aluminium frame bike built for any challenge on the road with its versatility and highly-refined features. The aluminium frame is built to minimise weight and maximise power transfer, stiffness and durability. The frame is paired with a CF carbon fork for control and responsive steering, giving you excellent touch and feel so that you can always take the fastest line. While the women's specific design and sizing ensures that you can get the most comfortable ride possible, maximising performance and fun in the saddle.
The Scultura 400 packs a punch with the reliable and smooth 2x11 speed Shimano 105 groupset. This equipped groupset offers precise shifting with brilliant control for smooth, silent and crisp performance on the road. Rolling resistance is minimised with the speedy Maxxis Dolomites tyres giving you raw speed and the ability to unleash your potential in the saddle. The Merida Scultura 400 Road Bike is a dynamic road bike, designed with edgy and innovative technology to give you a slick ride that is fast and fun. The Scultura 400 is all class on all rides, climbing, descending or getting in a groove on the flat, this bike can do it all with the ideal balance of comfort, performance and fun.
Hydro & Technoforming: Hydroforming involves the insertion of tubes into negative moulds. A hot emulsion of water and oil is forced through at pressure, enabling them to be formed into complex shapes. Technoforming is a mechanical forming process, shaping the tubes by using negative moulds, at times combined with a metal internal core. Smooth welding, also known as double pass welding, refers to a second pass over the weld providing a clean organic look to the frame; at first glance you will be convinced it is carbon, not aluminium.
Double & Triple Butting: Double butting describes tubes with two wall thicknesses; thicker at the ends and thinner in the middle. Triple butting describes tubes with three different wall thicknesses along their length, optimising strength where it is needed but minimising weight in areas subjected to less stress. All our aluminium is heat treated. Frames are heated to very high temperatures (a T6 temper) then quickly cooled in water or oil to ensure the alloying elements don’t precipitate. Frames are subsequently heated to a lower temperature, artificially ageing and significantly strengthening them.
