GT Avalanche Elite is an alloy hardtail mountain bike with 27.5 inch wheel size. 27.5 inch wheels have quickly gained popularity amongst as they offer an optimal balance between the reduced rolling resistance that characterises 29ers and the agility and handling of smaller 26 incher wheels. Larger wheels are able to hit obstacles at a lesser angle than smaller wheel sizes, meaning reduced resistance and loss of momentum as the bike hits the the obstacle and continues along the trail. There is also improved traction and stability as the big wheels allow for more tyre tread in contact with the ground.
Avalanche is one of GT's longest standing mountain bike platforms, jam-packed with features designed for cross country and trail riders. A high-end aluminium frame and geometry makes the bike great overall value. Shimano Deore drivetrain offers high performance shifting, while helping to keep the bike affordable.
