Description
The Odyssey Keychain Solid Pin BMX Chain is a groundbreaking BMX chain from Odyssey. It features innovative design elements that significantly reduce weak points, enhance ease of installation, and optimize chain weight.
Key Features
- Oversize Pins: Traditional chain pins are 3mm in diameter, while these keychains are 5mm, available with either a hollow or solid pin assembly. These oversized pins are four times stronger than traditional ones, making them nearly impossible to bend. The 5mm riveted pins not only add strength but also provide a larger contact surface with the chain's plates, making them harder to push out or bend. The hollow pin assembly is designed to create a stronger rivet connection during manufacturing, resulting in a more robust chain overall.
- Thicker, Lower Profile Side Plates: Each plate features a low profile and an extra narrow waist, reducing the chance of catching the plates at unwanted times. At 1.4mm, these plates are significantly thicker than those of any other chain and are more than 50% harder to bend compared to the thickest existing 1.2mm chain plates.
- Unique Master and Half Links with Threaded Pins: Users can break and re-join the chain using just a 3mm hex key. The half-link plates are taller at the bends to increase stiffness and minimize stretch. Since a chain breaker is no longer needed to re-join the chain, the pins maintain their original tightness from the factory. Carrying a spare master link and a 3mm Allen key is usually sufficient for repairs while riding, eliminating the need for a chain tool.
- Low Overall Weight: By efficiently using materials, Odyssey has strengthened every component of the chain while keeping the weight comparable to their lightweight Bluebird chain.
- Low Stretch: Chain stretching is minimized by using a standard alternating plate pattern and limiting the chain to a single, reinforced half link. This setup maximizes the lifespan of the sprocket and driver.
