Description

The Merida Big Nine 40-D is an entry-level hardtail mountain bike for recreational riders that want the quality of a Merida bike at a reasonable price. The 2019 RaceLite 6061 Aluminium frame is a lighter and more advanced frame than previous years. The frame is lighter, yet stiffer because of additional heat treatment and double-butted wall thickness. This means that you get a quality frame at an affordable price.  

The Big Nine 40-D has 29” wheels and 100mm travel suspension fork with a lockout. The suspension fork from SR Suntour offers 100mm of travel to smooth the bumps on the trail and this is ideal for riding more efficiently on smooth surfaces as well as climbing out of the saddle. If you are riding for a while on smoother terrain and want to conserve some energy, the fork lock out feature can be easily accessed from the top of the fork leg.

The Merida Big Nine 40-D is a versatile mountain bike which is ideal for for beginner to intermediate mountain bikers, or those who want a commuter that can handle the bumps too. With a lightweight and durable frame, lockout on the suspension fork and quality range of Shimano parts, this bike is a fun and efficient way to get around.

Features

Racelite 61 aluminium 2018: We use a minimum of 6061 aluminium. The pay back is that it’s possible to make lighter and more advanced frames. We use an additional heat treatment and double-butted wall thicknesses to produce light and stiff frames.

Tfs - Techno Forming System 2018: Technoforming is a mechanical forming process, shaping the tubes by using negative moulds, at times combined with a metal internal core.

F-mount 2018: ‘f-mount’ equipped bikes have integrated fittings for mud guards (some bikes require model specific mud guards), making fitting fast and simple.

K-mount drop-out 2018: Integrated mount on the chainstay to fit a merida kick stand.

C-mount 2018: ‘c-mount’ equipped bikes have the fixing points for a rear rack already integrated (some bikes require model specific rear rack), making fitting fast, simple and reliable.
