Discover MAHLE at 99 Bikes
MAHLE blends German engineering with cycling common sense, designing e-bike parts that feel intuitive, not intimidating. Our collection gives you high-performance components that deliver real benefits to everyday riders—better range, lighter weight, and smarter design.
The MAHLE Story
MAHLE began in Stuttgart in 1920, rooted in precision and durability, originally making aluminium pistons and components for internal combustion engines. Over time it evolved into a global engineering leader in vehicle systems and e-mobility.
Today MAHLE brings that same expertise to cycling, creating electric drive systems, batteries and accessories built with automotive-grade materials and rigorous testing. That means rides with parts you can trust, components that last, and performance informed by almost a century of engineering.

Why Ride MAHLE?
- Trim weight, retain performance. MAHLE’s X35 drive system adds only a few kilograms yet gives up to 40 newton metres of torque—enough support without changing how your bike feels. It keeps your ride feeling nimble.
- Smart battery solutions. Optional range extenders like the X35 battery or eX1 external battery give extra kilometres with minimal extra bulk so you can go further without needing big, heavy main batteries everywhere.
- Engineered for real Australian conditions. Components with high waterproof ratings, rugged mounting designs and premium cell chemistry that hold up under heat, rain and repeated use.
- Works across systems. The eX1 (also called MAHLE e185) external battery fits into several MAHLE systems (XS, X20, X30), so upgrading is simpler and compatible across rides and gear.
Popular MAHLE Ranges Explained
MAHLE X35 Range-Extender
The MAHLE X35 Range-Extender adds 208 watt-hours of battery power to compatible X35 systems, boosting your ride range by up to 70 percent. It mounts neatly to a bottle-cage position, connects through a standard port, and features IP57 water resistance to handle wet weather without fuss. Lightweight enough for easy removal yet sturdy for everyday commuter or trail use.
MAHLE E185
The MAHLE E185 (also called the external battery eX1) adds around 171-watt hours of power to small, external battery-friendly systems like XS, X20, and X30. It fits in a bike’s bottle cage, weighs about 1.1 kilograms, and provides up to 60 kilometres more range. Ideal for riders who want flexibility without bulking up the frame.
