Why Choose Northwave at 99 Bikes

Northwave brings mountain-grown performance straight to your pedals, crafting shoes that balance innovation, quality and design so you can ride comfortably, confidently and for kilometres on both road and trail.

Every pair carries over breakthrough technologies born in Alpine Italy, tailored to everyday riders who want gear that works hard, but doesn’t cost the earth.

The Northwave Story

Northwave began in 1971 in the footwear-making district of Montebelluna, northern Italy, founded by Gianni Piva as a specialist in ski boot liners and winter footwear. Over time it expanded into snowboarding boots and in 1993 introduced its first mountain-bike shoes, carried by bold colour and technical breakthroughs.

Today Northwave still designs and tests its products in mountain terrain, maintaining roots in craftsmanship, innovation and refined style. Every feature—from its patented dial closures to carbon reinforced soles—is built on decades of work that translates into comfort, control and performance on your ride.

Why Ride Northwave?

  • Patented dial closure systems make fit simple and precise with systems that allow step-by-step tightening or pull-to-release ease.
  • Sole systems engineered for your terrain whether it is road, trail or mixed surfaces you’ll get grip, power transfer and walkability where needed.
  • Seamless and ventilated uppers reduce hot spots and rub-points so long rides feel better from first pedal to last.
  • Fit options for all feet come in standard, wide and women’s specific versions so fit is inclusive not exclusive.
  • Sustainability in design backs up innovation with materials, testing and production that respect outdoor environments.

The SLW2 dial plus strap fit system lets you fine-tune fit and release quickly.

Northwave Revolution

Revolution is road-oriented and designed to perform in speed and long-distance settings. It focuses on stiff soles for efficiency, multi-vent airflow to keep feet cool, and durable uppers that hold up over many rides.
