Lezyne | Engineered Design
Founded back in 2007 by industry icon Micki Kozuschek and other industry partners, Lezyne has grown from humble beginnings. Kozuschek started as a pro triathlete in Germany. Whilst in the peak of his athletic career, Kozuschek brought quality but affordable bikes and clothing to Germany with Maxcycles. He then founded Truvativ after he moved to the USA. After growing this to become the leading OEW and after marketing cycling accessories and components, Kozuschek sold Truvativ to SRAM and took a much needed break from the cycling world. It was then in 2007 when Lezyne entered the marketing, as led by Kozuschek. Lezyne’s goal was to engineer and produce premium quality accessories that meet the same high standards as high-end bicycle components. In few words, Lezyne’s goal was 'Engineered Design'.
This goal for 'engineered design' still remains, with Lezyne becoming an industry leader, and winning countless awards. Innovative products like the CNC Floor Drive with its secure ABS Flip-Thread Chuck connection, the Carbon Road Drive 2 with light-weight Full Carbon Technology, and multi tools using Centre-Pivot bit design set Lezyne apart and ahead of the competition.
In 2011, LEZYNE introduced another innovative development for all Lezyne floor and hand pumps. ABS (air bleed system) is a bleeder valve, which allows releasing the air in the pump hose after using it on a Presta valve. This makes it easier to unscrew the Flip-Chuck from the valve after inflating the tire. On Schrader valves, the pressure of tires is easily adjusted. There is a patent pending on the ABS.
Lezyne Today
For the last two years, Lezyne has been developing LED lights and again sets new standards in design and function. A team of 9 in-house product designers and engineers are work under the lead of Micki Kozuschek. All Lezyne LED’s are tested in Lezyne’s own integrating sphere, an instrument used to measure the lumen output. Lezyne also developed their own lenses. More information about LED technology can be found under the support tab. Lezyne’s headquarters are located in San Luis Obispo, California, USA; all of their products are assembled at their factory in Taichung, Taiwan. Also housed in the factory, is an in-house quality control team, made up of engineers that supervise construction. This site also supports a warehouse from which Lezyne ships their products to distributors, worldwide. Although being an avid cyclist is not required, many Lezyne employees do enjoy a passion for riding bikes and happily test Lezyne's products before they are in production.
Lezyne is a combination of a love for cycling and a passion for design – Exquisite design, intelligent engineering, and functional completion.
