Legendary German engineering meets bike security you can trust. Abus builds the toughest locks on the market to defeat thieves and protect your investment. Your ride deserves protection as solid as the passion you pour into every kilometre.
The Abus Story
Abus, officially August Bremicker und Söhne, has been producing high-quality security solutions since 1924 in Wetter, Germany. Its roots reach deep: the company first built brass padlocks, later developing its first bicycle lock in 1931, and over the decades refined technologies like hardened steel, cylinder mechanisms and precision manufacturing to resist break-in and wear.
Today those decades of experience mean your Abus lock benefits from real German durability. Whether it's for daily commutes, e-bikes, or leaving your bike locked overnight, Abus’ history translates into locks that work when you need them.

Why Ride Abus?
- Hardened steel strength. Abus uses specially hardened steel for shackles, chains and lock bodies to resist cutting, sawing and impact.
- Precision locking cylinders. Their locks include high-quality cylinders built to resist picking, manipulation, even forced attacks.
- Thoughtful transport design. Ranges like Bordo include foldable bars or brackets so you carry your security with ease, without damaging your paint.
- Tested in real-world risk categories. With tiered security ratings you can match your lock to the theft risk where you park, so you’re not overpaying or under-securing.
Popular Abus Ranges Explained
Abus Bordo
The Abus Bordo range offers folding locks manufactured in Germany with multiple hardened steel bars, linked by special rivets. These fold compactly for transport and unfold to secure your frame and wheel to fixed objects. Aluminium clip-holders keep them stowed cleanly, and soft coatings protect your bike’s paintwork.
Abus Steel-O-Chain
The Abus Steel-O-Chain models are flexible chain locks made from square-section hardened steel covered in a fabric sleeve to avoid scratching your paint. Their chain links and lock mechanisms are built for strength and wear; perfect when you need wrap-around reach to secure both frame and wheels.
Abus 402
The Abus 402 U-Lock combines thick 11 mm hardened steel round shackle and a double locking mechanism to make it much harder for thieves to pry or twist it apart. The lock body casing offers grip and handling; ideal if you lock in medium-risk areas.
Abus Tresor
The Abus Tresor range delivers cable or cable-combo locks with overlapping steel shells or thick internal cables, often with plastic or textile coatings to safeguard the paint. Combination dials are built with touch-protected features to stop tampering and number reels that stay legible over time—even at night.
Abus Lock
The “Abus Lock” label covers cable-combo style units like the Steel-O-Flex Tresor, where flexibility and combination dials make quick locking simple. These are great for lower risk stops and errands where U-locks or chains might be overkill.
